If you're new to the word of sublimation or you're looking to start a business that involves sublimation, you may be asking yourself: which is a better option? Infusible Ink or Sublimation. Rather than listing ways one is better than the other I want to give you three ways in which the two are similar and three ways in which the two are different.
SIMILARITIES
Finished Results. The two processes result in bright and colorful images (provided enough heat is applied) that won't peel like some vinyl applications.
Materials. Both sublimation and infusible ink sheets require poly-based blanks with a polyester composition of 65% or more for bright fade free images and designs.
DIFFERENCES
Colors and Patterns. Sublimation is available in a diverse number of colors and designs/patterns allowing you endless customization options. On the other hand, infusible ink sheets are available in a limited number of pre-printed patterns and colors that can only be customized by cutting the designs from the sheets and pressing them onto the blank materials.
Ultimately the option that is best for you depends on how you plan to use it. If you cannot afford the upfront cost of sublimation or if you are new to sublimation and want to see if it is something you enjoy doing, infusible ink sheets may be a good first option for you. It is a similar process as sublimation without the large upfront investment costs. If you want limitless options of colors, patterns and designs without the hassle of cutting and weeding and can afford the upfront costs sublimation will be your go to option.
